DELhiite’s : Is your vehicle Odd Or Even??

Do you support this Odd Even Policy?

This rule has both positives and negatives-

Positives-

  1. Traffic control will be better.
  2. Pollution Level might come down resulting in fresher air.
  3. Less traffic jams.

Some Negatives-

1.Huge traffic to public transport like buses & metros. Delhi metro is already stuffed with people during business hours. So you can imagine what is  going to happen when this rule will be applied.

2. Business loss – Most of the small and medium level business owners travel by private vehicles. This policy can effect the business as public transport services are very poor in Delhi.

3.Pollution is the main agenda behind this odd even policy. However, this policy will reduce the pollution by 5% only. As per the graphs, 17% pollution is through vehicles. And commercials are not part of this policy.

4.There are multiple loopholes in the law.

5.People may opt for buying a new or one-more vehicle which will make thing worse for our city.

Before imposing a rule directly to the people, govt. should have seek for some alternatives as it makes a lot of inconvenience to the people who fears the rules (those who don’t care rules in any way does not make any difference). The govt. have already declared it as a success on the same day itself but actual effect of the rule will start from 4th Jan as most of the offices are off till sunday. Today I left my car at home and travelled by a DTC, but seen a lot of odd vehicles are also plying without any fear (Petrol and Diesel vehicles) as the volunteers and police are just standing at redlights and least bothered about offenders.

This is good. Some more strict measures should be initiated. Public transport is in a bad shape.

  • Gurbir Grewal

Selfish people will oppose it, the one’s who care for the future generations will support it!!

This is not a way to control pollution.. all this is just a gimmick.. The steps taken should be well researched and concrete

  • Geeta Maheshwari

I am with the govt. People will be inconvenienced but then so what.Don’t we need cleaner air to breathe? My concern Mr Chief Minister……why have you exempted women from this odd even rule? They should be treated at par with men……

  • RAMESH

Instead of conducting stupid experiences they should raid and check adulterated petrol/diesel

  • I support this initiative, but much more needs to be done to control pollution and unruly traffic:
    1. Driving license should be issued after conducting tests that are honest and strict, only to persons pledging to respect the traffic rules.
    2. Fines and other penalties, including cancellation of the license, arrest of the driver and confiscation of the offending vehicle, should be imposed for violating the traffic rules.
    3. The road tax for buying more than one vehicle should be substantially higher.
    4. People wanting to register a vehicle should have proper space for parking it, in a garage or enclosed area, NOT on a public road.

  • Kudos to Delhi and NCR residents for showing SELF-DISCIPLINE for the sake of good healthy environment. Delhi govt. may encourage car pools by allowing all cars with four passengers and all scooters/motor-bikes with two passengers each, without odd-even inhibitions.
